Rooted in Moorish and Arabic heritage dating back to the 8th Century, this historic site underwent partial reform to become a monastery in the 15th Century. Today, it stands proudly in the Seville province of Andalusia, Spain, boasting a valid license and functioning as a rural hotel.
Originally, the monastery complex was a sprawling ensemble of buildings, including a church, various chapels, cloisters, refectory, library, balneary, and monks’ quarters. Presently, the pilgrims’ chapel, situated at the entrance, has been tastefully converted into guest accommodations. This charming space comprises a reception area, office, three lounges, a kitchen, three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. Surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens, covered terraces, and a refreshing pool—the former water basin, replenished by a natural spring—the ambiance is idyllic for summer swims and relaxation.
The former chapel and cloister now serve as a boutique rural hotel, featuring seven double suite rooms with bathrooms, complemented by lounges and a dining/breakfast room. Additionally, the property offers ample event spaces, including the majestic 225m2 church, spacious cloister (18×18), and the refectory (175m2). Further facilities include a 112m2 chapel for group meetings and a smaller chapel for catering setups.
While the original monks’ cells and cloisters lie in ruins, restoring them would enhance the property’s allure, albeit requiring investment. Nonetheless, the guesthouse and rural hotel accommodations are well-maintained, with the church, chapels, and common areas fully restored for safe occupancy. Restoration efforts must proceed in collaboration with the authorities, given the site’s designation as a Spanish national monument.
Presently, the monastery offers guided tours, while its accommodations are available for events, weddings, and workshops, with the option for room rentals due to its classification as a rural hotel. The sprawling grounds spanning 192,600.00 m2 are nestled within a natural park, featuring diverse forests and agricultural plots ideal for various activities, including vineyard cultivation and olive farming. The serene environment, enveloped by mixed woods and uninterrupted by intensive farming, offers unparalleled tranquility and privacy—a haven for leisure and relaxation.
Practical amenities include mains electricity, newly installed transformers, spring water with purification systems, central heating in hotel rooms, and solar panels for hot water, supplemented by a gas heater. Situated just a 10-minute drive from a nearby village and an hour from both Seville center and the airport, accessibility is convenient without compromising the property’s seclusion and serenity.
